Lady WilsonA native of Prosperity, SC, Reverend Barbara Wilson is a 1982 graduate of Winthrop University where she earned a Bachelor of Music Education and Choral Music Degree. She also holds a Master of Ed. degree from Converse University, of which she also has served as an adjunct Professor of Music Ed.
Barbara is presently a retired and returning veteran music teacher in Spartanburg School District 7 after having taught for 37 years, most of which were at the Cleveland Academy of Leadership. She also serves as the Minister of Music at the Foster’s Grove Baptist Church where her husband, Rev. Horace Wilson has served as Senior Pastor for the past 30 years. She was ordained as a Preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by the Spartanburg County Baptist Association in 2017. Rev. Barbara has conducted workshops and master classes in choral music across the United States as well as Europe. One accomplishment that she is most proud of is being presented with the director of the year award for the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Chorus, founded by the late Dr. T.A. Dorsey, the writer of Precious Lord, Take my hand. Barbara is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and her first ministry is being the proud wife of Pastor Horace Wilson, Jr. and the fond mother of 4; Tony (Camille), Darryl (Jossalyn), twins, Bryan & Bethany (Ki’Monte') and grandsons Luke, Caleb and Micah Banks, and her only granddaughter, Hannah Grace. “Her love and passion for Christ allows her to serve with a sense of excellence and humility.” |
